Great to be back in Westminster today! 🧡💪

Today Skcin supported the launch of Sanofi’s new report about the Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer (NMSC) Patient Pathway and improving patient journeys and experience of care.

Following on from our success in July 2019 when Skcin co-hosted the launch of Sanofi’s first NMSC report ‘Sate of the Nation’ that highlighted the true incidence of NMSC in the UK - Skcin were asked to attend once more to engage parliamentarians by taking UV camera images of their skin to highlight their personal skin damage and advise MP’s about the important role skin cancer prevention and early detection plays in improving patient outcomes and relieving the significant burden on the NHS.

Skcin have worked hard over many years to raise awareness of NMSC which, despite being the UK’s most common cancer is under prioritised in every respect!

Despite being a charity that was set up in memory of Karen Clifford (the KC in Skcin) who died from melanoma - In our small but mighty charity, since our inception in 2006, 3 members of our core team (between them) have been treated and had surgery for no less than 27 NMSC! Therefore we are well placed to understand the needs and challenges faced by NMSC patients.

However, just like melonoma, the disease is almost entirely preventable and early detection, diagnosis and treatment is vital for patient outcomes AND in relieving the burden on the NHS that is estimated by 2025 to cost circa £465 million per year!

Today @skcincharity and fellow charity @melanomauk supported @Sanofi in their commitment to driving improved awareness of non-melanma skin cancer and supporting all those affected through their health journey - together we can make a difference!
