Hi all, I have Sjogren's but something else has been added to the mix. Red sore mouth and gums which I have told is Oral Lichen Planus.

It is an inflammatory condition due to autoimmune problems. Does anyone else have this condition as I am told it is not uncommon.

hello, Yet another problem. I frequently have a very sore mouth and tongue, but don't like the sound of your condition. I hope someone out there has an answer to make life better for you. Blessings and take care.

Hi Cassiecat

Do you take vitamin B supplements. They are promoted at the SS get together that we attend once a year in Auckland NZ. Heating your toothbrush up before using is helpful as is using Baking Soda dabbed on it to clean your teeth with. Some SS people use a mild Baking soda and water mouthwash helps neutralise mouth problems. We all seem to have to experiment with things and see what works for us. Spice

Iagree with the above answer as I also attend this SS get together once a year. There are medical guest speakers present and helpful hints from other SS sufferers.

I have this now and then. Firstly do you wear dentures? I could be wrong, but I have to make sure my denture routine is adhered to, I use" Corsodyl mint mouth wash" for treating gum problems. As advised by my dentist. Hope you can get this in Australia. I also use baking powder- 1/4 teaspoon in some warm water- from the kettle- this is soothing when nothing else helps. If too much and

it tastes too strong I then wash my mouth out with clear water. Hope this helps. xx

Hi Carol3,

Thanks for replying, I have a partial denture but don't wear it now as my dry mouth makes it uncomfortable. My dentist sent me to an Oral Pathologist who diagnosed it as Oral Lichen Planus. He said it's a chronic condition which can be controlled. Gave me some Kenacomb ointment which made a big difference. As I have to use it regularly,am very interested in your mouth wash as been told I have "fragile gums".

Thanks for that.
