Hi ladies. My mother experiences terrible stomach pains for hours at a time ever since her hysterectomy. It’s occurs about 8-10 a year. We’ve talked to doctors but they don’t seem to have an answer for her. Is anyone else going through this?

I don’t understand the 8-10 a year part also when did she have her surgery? If it’s recent then she may have wind/gas? That in itself is painful and not uncommon post op but does dissipate over time. Is she constipated? I hope you get answers very soon so she can feel better, this OC journey is difficult enough without more pain especially if it’s unnecessary. Take care and stay safe ❤️xx Jane

Hi. Thank you for replying. My mother experiences these episodes about 8 times a year. She had the surgery 8 years ago and it was more frequent then but it still occurs. This last time, it lasted for 3 days. Every time she though she was okay and ate a bite of toast, the pain took over and lasted at least 8 hours. I appreciate your feedback so much. Thank you.

I was going to suggest gas which is a common problem after surgery.

Eight years is a long time. Has her doctor recommended a CT scan? You don't indicate if she has ovarian cancer, or if she had a full hysterectomy, but a scan will tell a lot about what's going on inside her.

It could be due to scar tissue from the original surgery. I have a partial bowel obstruction which causes severe stomach pain and vomiting about every four weeks. I have ended up in the emergency room as well as admitted and the CT scan shows the obstruction. The surgery to remove it is not an easy one so we are treating with daily colace, miralax and a low fiber diet. You may want to look into this.
