I had my first chemo about 10 days ago. I am trying the Penguin Cold Cap and I know it is too early to tell if I will keep my hair or not. I am on Carbo/Taxol. I am interested in knowing if anyone else out there used this? Would you be willing to share your experience? I have only heard positive things about it and my husband was a trooper throughout the whole process.
Happy Holidays!

I did not do the cold cap. but I heard it works partially like you will have thinning hair, or patches of hair will still fall. I shaved my head, I had thinning hair and bolding patches (very small) but my hair is growing back thicker and no bold patches!
I did not have a cold cap but one of the breast helpline volunteers here at SHARE did. She said that it was expensive and a pain to have it on. But given the choice that she would have to have it again she said that she would. I could have her respond to you post if you want. From what I understand it works well for some women but it doesn't work so well for others
Here is an article of interest from OncLive
Findings from the first prospective, randomized clinical trial to evaluate modern scalp-cooling demonstrate that the system is safe and effective in reducing hair loss in women being treated with chemotherapy for their breast cancer, especially for those on taxane-based regimens.
“The results of our interim analysis showed that in the scalp cooling group, 50% of participants retained their hair, and in the control group 0% did (P <.0001),” reported Julia R. Nangia, MD, during a press conference at the 2016 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. Nangia is an assistant professor of Medicine at the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine. - See more at: onclive.com/conference-cove...
