Subtle peritoneal stranding

Hi ladies. Another scan and I can’t figure out what is subtle peritoneal standing and slight increase of trace ascities. Can anyone explain it to me. Thanks. Marianne. Boston

I don't know much but the words subtle and trace are reassuring. Stranding is a nonspecific finding and many things can cause it. Your doctor will probably get a follow up scan In a few months and see if it is same or more. I hope you are feeling well. If you feel well and blood tests pretty stable you could put the worry in your worry box for a while.

Hi Marianne, I'm going to guess you have lobular breast cancer? It has a tendency to metastasize to the peritoneum and is not mass forming. It typically shows up as stranding and bowel thickening and is otherwise difficult to pick up on traditional scans used to screen for mets.. I have mets to my peritoneum and my CT scans regularly show all of the above plus the ascites showing up in yours.

Hi Michelle. Yes your right I have lobular and it metastasized to bone and the above was written on my scans. What did they do with yours. Did they change treatment? Thank you so much. M

hi Marianne. did you talk to your oncologist regarding the results of your scan? did he/she explain about the subtle stranding and the trace ascites? curious....
