Waiting for pet scan , so scared of the results .

3rd one since diagnosis and so scared 😟 my ca3-15 was 15 from 56 hoping that means nothing spread this time .

Scan time is full of fear and anxiety. I sometimes have to medicate myself, meditate, cry do whatever to cope. The uncertainty and the possibility of progression is a constant reminder f what we’re living with. Having said that, there are effective treatments out there IF there is something going on. Try to stay busy and do not isolate yourself. Allow a little down time but don’t get dragged down. Go out. Call a friend. See an uplifting movie. Then let us know the results. You will get lots of support and information from people walking your walk. Fingers crossed.

Over and out 😟cried the entire time . So at the end the guy who took test and read test looked me straight in the eye , I was hysterical 😭 I said I know you can’t discuss results but Christmas is going to be very sad this year , and that is when he said , are you someone that thinks no change is good , I said that’s what I’m hoping for and then he said with a smile then Merry Christmas .

Yes he was kind , so kind , as I was crying 😢 ( so embarrassing) in public uncontrollable he looks at me and says I have lumps in my throat . I said sorry 😐 and smiled . He walked away , I hope he did not drop a tear . Xx Stacy

At a new place this time and got the stone face...but at the last place they would usually give a hint comment like looks like it always does to me. Or bone scan was clear hope CT says the same 😀 something positive as they know it can be stressful to wait! 😀

Hi Sandra , ❤️ty for responding . Just got home , I was crying 😢 for 3 hours there at the imaging waiting to be taken . At the end the guy who did and read the test knew how upset I was , so upon leaving I said I know you aren’t allowed to tell me anything but Christmas is going to be very sad I’m afraid. And then he says are you someone that thinks that no change from the last scan is good ? I said that would be fabulous and he said merry Christmas. I hope what I read from those words that no change . Ty for caring cxoo

I am also addicted to the Hallmark movies. When possible I plan time each day to watch. The happy and predictable story line gives the brain a rest from the worry. Early on I saw a social worker who told me that our brains will usually default to the worry and sometimes you must make the effort to give it a rest. The movie, a book or hobby, can make you feel better.

What is a PET scan

It’s a scan that looks at your entire body from the inside . You go into a big round cylinder that move you through , it takes 22 minutes . Where other scans scan parts at a time a PET does the entire body.

Hi Grebnesie! That's great news! And I'm touched by the very human response from the technician...breaking a protocol now and then is a compassionate thing!

I'll mention that the first few scans I did post-mets I sobbed throughout! I'd keep assuring the techs that generally I am a pretty "together" person, in spite of the weepy mess they saw in front of them! I've become extremely claustrophobic re: scans, too, so I take 100mg of Xanax beforehand...this not only helps the claustrophobia AND the stress, but gives me quite a psychedelic trip (the images I see when my eyes are closed in the machine) for the duration..it's actually PLEASANT! Maybe you would consider trying the same? Just a thought...

OMG, I came back to the site because I happened to read something about using "0.1mg Xanax" to help with a bad LSD trip (don't ask...just exploring! ), and I realized that I take ONE mg... 4 x .25 mg...wow, I WOULD be tripping at 100mg!!

We all know the torturous uncertainty of each scan. The waiting is so hard and I don't think that will ever change.

It does sound great that your CA 3- 15 is lower. I pray you get good results. Please let us know. We are here for you.

Thanks, my CA 3-15 ranges between 11-15 so I’m not sure I believe those show truth but I sure hope so . Xx❤️
