ah lovely. Didn't grow up with them but wish I did
Not me but I’m sure Barb will enjoy seeing your post! She’s a huge equine fan. This photo is so timeless.
Love the pic!!
My high school buddy was a (too large) Morgan-Appaloosa cross we called Sampson. Fun memories!
(I’d past a pic but can’t figure out how.)
Beautiful pic! I grew up around horses & rode friend’s horses but never had one of my own.
I always wanted a Palamino! Now I'm too scared to ride.
What great memories you must have.

I did, so many good memories
Right so I just changed my avatar for now, my sister and I riding on the beach December 2017 - celebrating my Ibrance working. I am the gray haired one on the right as you look at the photo.
Thanks for the tip. That worked.
Me...still horse crazy
You look very casual there...no hat and shorts...those were the days!!!
I never ride without a hat or an air vest now...not after my fracture...sort of limits that feeling of total freedom with the wind blowing through your hair

Barb, I have never ridden with a helmet. Not once! Even when taking English riding lessons as a teen. Being from the USA, I rode mostly western or bareback. We had 3 saddles to choose from at one point and they were all western. My grandfather was in the service and was in the cavalry back when it still involved horses. When he got out of the service he worked in the horse barns at Cornell University Vet School - one of the worlds best Vet schools. When he retired and moved to Florida he trained country music star Lynn Anderson’s palominos (that was in the 1960’s and early 1970’s). I also have a cousin (Laura) whom to this day trains horses for movie stars and rock stars. The fly her to their ranches via private helicopter. She actually owned a thoroughbred grandson of the great Man O War (his name was Launches Black Magic - Magic for short). Another cousin worked in Virginia in the 1980’s when steeple chase was big there. Today it’s sad to say only one of us currently still owns and rides regularly and that’s Laura. I do ride whenever I get the chance but it’s pretty rare.
Wow...horsey family
I’m the only one in mine to be horse mad but happy to say both my girls rode from an early age
I’ve never ridden western and I guess it’s very different...I have a normal English saddle and a dressage saddle which feels quite different and probably nearer to a western as have to ride long
There’s nothing to compare to horseback riding imo

Hi Becca,
What a beautiful horse! I love horses too. I didn't grow up horseriding, but I live near horses and get to visit them often.
Sophie
I was on my first horse at around 2 1/2 years old. I was hooked! The palomino you see in the photo was my favorite of all our horses and sorta my baby and high school bestie. He would do anything with me or for me. I sure wish we could post more than one photo, I know I have a photo of me on my first horse.
My last horse was a palomino, Mosel, half Morgan and half Thoroughbred. She was a beauty. I've only ridden once or twice since I left home for college....... sigh.
