Oncotype DX score

Hi! I was diagnosed with stage 1 DCIS (HR+ and HER2-) and had lumpectomy done. My Oncotype DX score is 20 and I am recommended to do chemo, radiation and hormone therapy for 10 years. I am 41 years old.

I was wondering if anyone else got their Oncotype scores and if it affected the original treatment plan.

I got an oncotyoe and b/c it was 16 I was told I did t need chemo. Hope this helps. There is also another test called mamma print which also provides scores for benefits of chemo.

Hi NeenJah, my score was was 18 & my oncologist told me that I should do chemo So I did my research to see what the average range is that doesn’t require chemo..it was a range of 18-25. I then discussed it with my radiologist (who is also the head of Oncology & Radiology)…he told me that I DID NOT need to do chemo, just 4 weeks of radiation (btw,I also was Stage 1), I told my oncologist that I didn’t want chemo &(you have the final say)!!

I had 4 weeks of radiation; I ran that bell in Sep 2021 & now I’m cancer free!!

Bottom line: don’t get bullied into chemo, especially when your is low Do your research!! 💕

…I scored a low 9…I had lumpectomy and then decided to have full mastectomy to avoid radiation; I refused tamoxifen, I was 45 at the time….5 years later my femur fractured and I was diagnosed stage 4; I started tamoxifen right away, had radiation to my leg and three other areas where cancer was in my bones . I then had my overuse removed and started letrozol; have been NED now for 6 years.

Oncotype Dx test is done after surgery using cells from the tumor that was removed. At 64, my oncotype score was 17 and it showed <1% effectiveness for chemotherapy treatment, so I opted out and had 16 radiation sessions. If I had not requested this test, my Oncologist was prescribing chemo and radiation. Knowledge is power! Know the facts and advocate for yourself. Doctors see hundreds of patients but there is only ONE YOU.
