What about not eating after a certain time? Had lunch at 3pm then herbal tea and gluten free courgette cake at 5pm and I had a great nite!

Hello There! =)

This, you say, helped you with RLS?

I had a restless legs free night. It has happened before when I've eaten earlier in the day as well. I'm really not sure what time the cut off point is to eat but when I tried a protein only meal I had a really bad night even though I ate at about 5pm! The only problem with gluten free is substituting rice and potato flour for wheat as they are very low in fibre and I have to have a high fibre diet. I think I'm going to try having my main meal at lunchtime and just have a snack later.

I have been gluten-free for two weeks and restless leg free for 1 1/2 weeks! I am shocked it works. I have been seeing the country's leading research doctor in restless leg doctor from Johns Hopkins for three years. I have been taking hydrocodone for all this time and beginning to wonder what was next as the rls was continued to get progressively worse. GIve gluten free a shot- you have nothing to lose! Good Luck!

Gluten free is floating around as a possible help for RLS, but I have no idea why yet. :) also, eating too close to bed time, your body has to work harder to digest the food, no matter what you eat, but always good to go light at night. no sugar, no caffeine, no alcohol, etc. When your body has to work to digest food, it brings your core temperature up, and that will disturb your sleep. So, the less food the better at night. If you have to absolutely have to have a snack, a few carbs wil help make you more sleepy. But, as far as RLS goes, that is just good "sleep hygiene", so you may sleep better with that kind of snack, but it will most likely not make that much difference with the RLS.

Nightdancer, may I just say that gluten free showed up in

the world of RA as well as of late..

several articles have mentioned it for RA.
