Update on Journey without Ropinorole

I have been off ropinorole for 5 months. I have been taking gabapentin without much luck. I have Rls 2 or 3 times a week but mostly in my arms. Taking 25 mg of tramadol seems to take care of it. I am taking 400 mg gabapentin at 7:00pm and 600 mg at 10:00 pm. I had a follow up with my Doctor and told her I was taking tramadol that she did not prescribe to me. (It is my husbands) I told her it seems to be the only thing I’ve tried that does any good. She agreed to prescribe it to me with the understanding that my goal is to find one medication that works and stick with it. I really want to get off the gabapentin. It makes me feel wobbly in the morning and somewhat depressed. Plus I have to keep increasing the dosage to get it to work. My only problem now is I’m not sure how to switch from gabapentin to Tramadol. She wrote a prescription for 50 mg tablet, one daily. I gave up on my Doctor at Vanderbilt because they don’t take my insurance anymore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much for being here when ever I need good advice.

Reduce by 100 to 200 mg every 2 weeks. If you start getting withdrawal effects slow down even more. That's great that your doctor was willing to give you the tramadol!

Average dose of tramadol for RLS is 100 to 200mg.

Dr Buchfuhrer often says 2 meds at lower dose work better than 1 med at higher dose.

As you reduce gabapentin- the RLS may increase. So ensure your doctor will increase tramadol to cover symptoms.
