switching from gabapentin to pregabalin

I went from 2400 mg of gabapentin 600 2 hours apart 3 times with little relief to 200 mg pregabalin 6 hours apart waking up every hour with symptoms.

My question is should the pregabalin work right away when you switch or does it need time to buildup in your system.

I am taking 200mg of pregabalin 2 times 6 hrs apart

It should work right away but if 2400 mg gabapentin didn't work then 400 mg pregabalin won't either. Add 25 mg every couple of days. It's possible your dopamine receptors have been damaged. 600 mg is the max. You can take it all at one time although some find dividing the dose in 2 does work better.
