how long does prami withdrawals last?

hey,

i got prescribed pramipexole 0.18mg 3 years ago after I had RLS for a few weeks ( never had it before) and went the doctor. doctor said I could take it without issues, so I did. took it for 2 years, noticed a whole bunch of horrible side effects but I contributed them to covid. the worst being a constant pain in my legs after an injury and the inability for it to heal. I can't do 2 squats without being in agonizing pain for days. after forgetting to take them on holidays i got into the worst withdrawals, and after that I suddenly had RLS in my arms as well.

loads of research and doctors appointments later I found a neuro who told me to find a pharmacist that makes the prami into a liquid and start getting off it.

Took me a over a year to get off it, suffering from the worst agony I never thought possible. the last 6 months I had constant earworms, usually the same damn song, waking up every hour, being annoyed and generally tired AF.

anyway that was 3 weeks, and the same night i took the last prami was also the last night i had RLS in my legs. I had it in my arms for 2 weeks but that subsided as well. the earworms are finally getting better as well, just at night when i wake up and the morning. what still hasn't gone away is the waking up every hour and a half at night, the horrible pain in my legs, and me waking up with my entire body shaking after exactly 6 hours and 15 min of sleep.

does anyone of you have any experience with the withdrawal effects of pramipexole that aren't RLS related and how long they last? it's been 3 weeks now and I'm a bit afraid some of these things are permanent now.

Hi Mortlok,Can you give us more information. You say you suddenly developed RLS. That is unusual. Often RLS starts during pregnancy, or after you start anti depressants or if you develop anaemia.

Can you think of anything that may have triggered it?

Which country are you in?

Have you had full iron panel blood tests?

You say the RLS in your legs and arms has gone, but you are woken every 90 mins. What is waking you? An urge to move or insomnia? Or pain?

Withdrawal symptoms from Pramipexole can take several months to settle. If you had RLS severe enough to require Pramipexole, then it is likely you will still need meds to control it now.

Not what you're looking for?
