RLS misery

just found this page. Always thought there was something to RLS and migraines. I see a lot of people on crazy meds, found this link - westonaprice.org/podcast/th...

thinking a lot of our issues could be resolved with better diet. Used to get 20 migraines a month, RLS was through the roof. Stopped eating from the center of the grocery store, went real food . Migraines now 3-4 times a month and RLS only after I take imitrix.

hope this helps even a little.

Diet can be an important factor in some people's RLS, including mine to an extent, but others have tried all sorts of diets to no effect whatsoever.

Many over-the-counter and prescription medicines trigger or exacerbate RLS symptoms, but I've not seen previous reports of sumatriptan (Imitrex, Treximet) causing RLS problems.

However, there have been various reports linking migraine to RLS:

"RLS is high in patients with migraine": ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Welcome to the forum. You will find lots of help, support and understanding here. And happy holidays!

Are you taking any dopamine agonists like ropinirole or pramipexole? Do you have high blood pressure? There are a number of medicines that cause migraines. Are you taking any other medicines? If so I may be able to provide you with a safe substitute.

You can keep a food diary to check

check out Active Mg, it is a migraine treatment created by a pharmacist for his daughter ‘s debilitating migraines. The side effect was that it also cured RLS, taken it for more than five years now and my RLS is 75% better. Also eating less carbs also improves it.

Welcome to the group. I think all of us are open to tweaks to improve our RLS. I checked Active Mg. Wow that is expensive. di-magnesium malate and magnesium glycinate complex can be found for a fraction of the price elsewhere.

Does Ibuprofen help your migraines and RLS?

I don’t suffer from migraines, I bought it solely because of its efficacy for RLS. I’ve tried other Mg combos and none of them work as well as this does which is why I pay and have it sent from the other side of the planet!

If you look at the ingredients as I just did you could probably buy them separately at less cost.

I am glad it works for you. Whatever works for you is fine by me.

Have you tried Ibuprofen for RLS? It helps me when my RLS is bad. It's not a cure, but I do sleep better after two ibuprofen. I only take it once or twice a month.

I use over the counter Ibuprophen & Codeine mix in UK called Nurafen+ (Boots generic is cheaper) - that's my nuclear deterrent!
