Thyroid problems don't cause RLS but often exist along with RLS and can make RLS worse. Do you have low thyroid levels? Do you take thyroid medicines? If so I can tell you more.

No that is not low. The normal values for a female are 0.4-2.34

I have Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism. I’ve had Hashi for 20+years but have only been on meds for about 6 months. The meds haven’t taken my RLS away, but the meds I take for RLS have started working better and I no longer have insomnia, so that is a positive. At least now when my meds work well and my legs are calm I can sleep.

Do low thyroid levels cause insomnia?

Hashimoto’s can. Many people who have under active thyroid also have Hashimoto’s.

Hi Merny5, I too was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism but my RLS was before now going on approximately 15 years. I really didn’t see much of anything in regards to this thyroid question. Did I miss something?
