Honey, maple syrup and agave nectar all contain high levels of sugar and - depending on the amount - I would probably find any of them troublesome in a night time drink for that simple reason.
However, it sounds as though you've not had the same issue with honey? So perhaps you're not as sensitive to sugar as I am.
There are comparatively high levels of minerals in maple syrup, and I suppose there's always the possibility of some rogue ingredient, but otherwise idk!
I'm a bit leery of ingredient statements, given how honey is marketed.. I keep bees ,so know what goes on. I can get a 1000 litres of "honey" - any flavour, consistency or whatever I wish to market, from a certain country in the Asian continent, delivered to my door!
I wonder is the same situation for Maple Syrup?
Manuka honey is another scam product. Something like 300 tons actually produced annually, and yet 3000 tons gets sold!!🤔
Yes, I've seen stories of honey adulterated with sugar syrup, fake manuka honey, and now see a few reports of fraud and maple syrup. So who knows what you're reacting to!
