I am taking 600mg gabapentin after coming off 0.5mg of ropinerole about three weeks ago but suffering from insomnia and awake most of the night. Is this insomnia part of the ropinerole withdrawal process? I decided to take half a 0.25 tablet of ropinerole tablet last night with the result of a good night's sleep . I don't really want to take ropinerole due to augmentation, but I wonder if taking about 0.125mg ropinerole on the odd occasion be ok or will my sleep pattern eventually improve after a few more weeks of staying on gabapentine. Any suggestions?

Try ativan.
Yes, ropinirole withdrawal can cause insomnia. It should resolve in a couple more weeks. Gabapentin should be kicking in soon, and it should help with both pain with sleep.
Very much what I'm going through now, I stopped ropinerole about a fortnight ago after starting on 300mg gabapentin that was increased to 600mg this week and take about 9ish in the evening. My rls symptoms have reduced a lot but the flip side is insomnia but as you say in your post it will improve over the next few weeks hopefully and also the gabapentin will kick in more.
You are better off taking the 300 mg 2 hours before you take the 600 mg. That way you won't wake up after 2 to 3 hours.
OK, then try 600 mg at 6 pm and 600 mg at 8 pm.
