Gabapentin and Ropinirole please .....

1. I came across an old post on here with someone saying that if you take Gabapentin with Ropinirole, then the Ropinirole does not cause augmentation. Am guessing this is not true, but I thought I would put it out there to see if anyone has anyone definitive research on this.

2. Also read that it is better to take Gabapentin morning, noon and night to "keep it in your system", rather than just the evening dosages. Again, any research please? I believe this may be specifically for epilepsy, but would like absolute confirmation.

3. And why oh why does it take two to three weeks to work - during which time one has no idea if it is going to work because it is not 100% effective, and one is already off Ropinirole ........

4. And what experience do people have of gaining weight with Gabapentin and why.

No, you don't want to take gabapentin 3 times a day unless you have symptoms during the day. No it doesn't help augmentation. I only gained a couple of pounds.

Hi, I was prescribed gabapentin for suspected nerve damage in my lower legs, awaiting MRI result. I’m just on 1 3 times a day, so not a high dose, but I’ve got to say I did seem to have some relief from the pain , still a bit of discomfort but nothing like as bad. After first few days I seemed fine, didn’t really see any side effects , probably just a bit light headed for 2 or 3 days. I had been on them about a month when I caught Covid, 3 weeks recovering the covid seemed to have wiped out any good that the medication was doing, so back to square one, I’m still taking the same dosage but doesn’t seem to be having the same effect now, my pain seems to be back, I’m not sure if the medication just isn’t right for me, or if the after math of covid is still causing the discomfort. On the weight gain front, I was particularly worried about this from the offset, I’m by no means extremely overweight but I’m carrying a little more than I’d like, but I cant say I noticed any difference, until the other night I stood at the mirror and I thought I was carrying some fluid at the top of my thigh , my husband says I’m imagining it, but I’m at the doctors Friday so hopefully she can confirm whether or not it is fluid retention . Hope this helps, I’m curious as to whether gabapentins effects wear off the longer you’re on it, and that’s why people are on such high dosage . Hope you get sorted

Gabapentin can cause edema. I have it, but it is not bad. You can try the over the counter remedies although they did nothing for me. As far as gabapentin not working as well, since you were on a low dose, you could try increasing it or you could wait a few weeks and see if your current dose returns to working again. Or it may not have been covid that was the problem, as I doubt it, and it may have been something else. Effindoe, Joolsg, or Madlegs1 can help on that.
