Mucuna pruriens alias velvet beans is apparently a good source of dopamine. It is claimed it can raise dopamine levels.

Whether that's a good or bad thing is another matter.

Some members have reported it to be of no help. I've come across one member who said it did help at first, but then caused problems.

Levodopa, the drug, used to be used to treat RLS symptoms, but is not really recommended any more. It worked by raising dopamine levels.

The problem is that RLS is not due to low dopamine levels, it's due to a lack of dopamine receptor sites. RLS is actually associated with raised dopamine levels. Levodopa raises levels yet higher and this quickly causes dopaminergic augmentation. That's why it's not used any more except for intermittent use e.g. once or twice a week.

If mucuna pruriens is effective then, it doesn't sound as if it's a good idea to take it regularly.

It's a try it at your own risk situation.
