After augmenting to 1.5 mg Ropinole I am now down to .50 and moving over to Gabapentin. I had been taking Gabapentin at 300 3xdaily - neurologist moved me to the 900 mg at night. I had continued to have problems as I am reducing the Ropinirole so my doctor told me I could increase the Gabapentin upward to 1200 mg which I did. Now I am taking 1500 mg at night and sleeping 8.5 hours without much problem. My plan is that when I am finally off Roprinole I will begin to reduce Gabapentin down to 1200 or 900 mg. but not until I am completely free from the Roprinole. I am hopeful all will be fine... good news is I have really found the Gabapentin to be very effective. Just fyi. B534967

A few months ago I abruptly stopped 2-3 mg of ropinerol and started on 900 mg of gabapentin. At the time I knew nothing of augmentation nor of the need to taper off of ropinerol. I had no problems with the abrupt switch. But, based on what I have read it looks like your doc has you on a good approach. I appear to have been lucky.
I should add that 3 months ago my symptoms got worse so I am on 1200 mg of gabapentin and 0.5 mg of ropinerol. All meds are taken in the evening before bedtime because my symptoms are primarily in the evening. I will be trying to reduce some of this as I have really had few symptoms the lasts couple of weeks.
Thanks for your reply - so glad you had no problems with the abrupt change you made. I am currently taking 1500 Gab and .25 Ropinirole and RLS is really breaking through nightly. I am going to contact my neurologist about switching over to Pregabolin instead of Gab and will continue to take the .25 Rop for the remaining 10 days as I reduce to zero Rop. Thanks again - B534967😀
