After coming off ropinorole last year I am now on 900mg of gabapentin. They worked well at first but now my legs are twitching and jumping nearly every night as soon as I get into bed. I have to get up and try to sleep on the floor in the lounge with the TV on as destraction. I have a weighted blanket, I rub magnesium oil on my legs but nothing seems to be helping. Has anyone got any suggestions? The only good thing is I am relatively comfortable in the evenings.

Gabapentin has stopped working
This happened to me as well. Gabapentin stopped working for me after less than a year. My doctor told me some people metabolize things differently and certain classes of drugs don't work well. Now on Lyrica and it works reasonably well for me.
Gabapentin didn't help at all after I came off ropinirole. Dr. Buchfuhrer has noticed this happens to many people who have been through augmentation and dopamine agonist withdrawal.I switched to pregabalin and that worked until it caused augmentation ( rls started in arm again).
I was on Oxycontin as well so just slowly reduced the pregabalin.
I'm not getting sufficient coverage ( I get bad RLS for at least 3 hours every night) so I will be asking my GP to prescribe Temgesic after reading about how effective it has been for those with severe, refractory RLS who have tried all the other drug treatments.
