These sedating antihistamines can also cause memory problems and confusion in older people and worsen difficulties with urination in men who have an enlarged prostate. Newer, nonsedating antihistamines such as loratadine (Claritin) and cetirizine (Zyrtec) are usually not a problem in terms of RLS and these other adverse effects.

on the internet it says diphenhydramine can cause both of those. I take generic loratadine, 10 mg, with no problem.

I’m pretty sure the only ones that will not make your RLS worse are Claritin, Allegra and Zyrtec. Benadryl is NOT a good one to take.
