Hi Sahhara, when I took pregabalin for about a year, I was told that the effects build slowly and I would only really get the full effect after a week or two of taking the tablets. I started on a low dose anyway, just to see if there were any side-effects and take it gradually. I then increased the dose from about 25% (75mg for me) initially to 100% (300mg) over two weeks and found that was fine. The effect was a bit like painting a wall, after the first coat you can still see patches and the coverage isn’t great, but when you put a couple more coats on you get the full effect.

You don't quite understand me. If I drank it at 6 pm, what time will it take effect?

Hi Sahhara, I think I understand you, but my belief is that pregabalin doesn’t really work like that. Once you are taking your regular doses, twice a day in my case, there doesn’t really seem to be any change in effectiveness through the day. When I was coming off the drug I thought I could tell that the effects were weakest 24 hours after but you’d expect that and it wasn’t that noticeable. I used to take it at 8am and 8 pm which seemed to work fine and my thinking was that it would peak for when I went to bed and also mid morning when I was most active but as above it seemed to be pretty constant in its effects and I didn’t really notice a peak.

I take pregabalin 150 x 2. If I forget my first dose, I will get agitated later in the day and figure it out. It takes about an hour to “feel”, calm down. But it’s probably all in my head.

I take it at 8pm and feel the effects at 11pm. I have been taking it for approximately 7 years at varying doses.

It is supposed to kick in quickly, like after an hour, but I don't know if liquid changes anything.

Gabapentin is more slowly and variably absorbed, with peak plasma concentrations around 3 hours post-dose. Pregabalin is quickly absorbed, with the maximum rate of absorption being 3 times that of gabapentin. It reaches peak blood concentrations within an hour after ingestion.
