PREGABALIN

Sorry, I did reply yesterday, it seems to have got lost.

The British National Formulary states that the manufacturers of pregabalin advise against the use of pregabalin during preganancy or breastfeeding except if the benefit outweighs the risks.

I have also read that there is insufficient data about this, so the advice is erring on the side of caution.

I would add that 600mg of pregabalin seems excessive. I first thought you were referring to gabapentin. The maximum recommended dose of pregabalin for RLS is 450mg.

It is strongly recommended to come off pregabalin in pregnancy. I was taking 300mg when I found out I was pregnant. Staying on it wasn't even an option. I reduced down over approx 2 weeks (was fine) and didn't replace it with anything. . Pregnancy for me wasn't too bad. Occasionally I took Fenergen (antihistamine) (which can exacerbate RLS) to get a good night's sleep.I have read that some docs are ok with codeine in pregnancy.

All the best whatever you decide.
