Hi, if you're taking pramiprxole, (Mirapex), and suffering augmentation then even if you start taking Horizant your symptoms aren't likely to improve.

In order to stop the augmentation you will have to stop taking the pramipexole. Until you've done that the Horizant will have little effect.

In addition Horizant doesn't work immediately, it takes a few weeks.

You best optiom now, is to wean off the pramipexole.

You must not do this suddenly and it's best to reduce it slowly, e.g. by reducing the pramipexole by 0.0625mg every 2 - 4 weeks. (Half a 0.125mg tablet). Pramipexole cessation can cause severe withdrawal effects and slow withdrawal reduces these.

Alternatively, you could try an opioid. However, again, you would still need to stop taking pramipexole.

An opioid could help with withdrawal effects.

I agree with Manerva. Horizant won’t help while you’re in augmentation from Mirapex.

The only solution is to get off the Mirapex. Follow Manerva’s reduction schedule.

It’s tough but possible.
