CHAMPIX AND RLS
Hi, i dont know much about chambix and whether is has any ingredient that helps with RLS aswell as a giving up smoking med. Zyban is another give up smoking med which is also known a bupropion which is Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin is used for depression that alot of RLSers take because it doesnt make their RLS worse.
Doesn't Chambix just give you a small dose of nicotine without the nasty ingredients of cigarette smoke? If nicotine was going to reduce rls, wouldn't someone have found by now that smoking helped?
The rls medications all seem to try to make the brain send less signals to the peripheral nervous system or make it less sensitive to the triggers it's receiving from the peripheral nervous system. My belief is that rls is mostly caused by inflammation of the peripheral nervous system due mostly to food triggers like high blood sugar, artificial food additives, like sorbates, nightshade sensitivity or possibly heavy metal or mould toxicity.
Try to keep a food diary to help you find if it's something in your food that's causing it. Is your rls worse after you've eaten or drunk very sweet foods or alcohol? Do you have small quantities of sweet foods throughout the day, so that there is an accumulating quantity of sugar in your food? Do you tend to get rls after eating nightshades (aubergines, tomatoes, potatoes, chillis)? Think of where you might be exposed to black mould. Is your water supply pure?
I used Champix several times to help give up smoking. I can't say I noticed any difference in my RLS symptoms. Champix did make me very nauseated until I learned to take it after a meal, and it interfered with my sleep. I have been told by one friend I became very irritable but I didn't notice that in myself. Good luck with the Champix, for the brief time of having to take it, it is well worth it as it does help to stop smoking.
Insomnia is listed as a common side effect. I had a friend that combined it with an anti depressant - big mistake - severe reaction, hallucinations, uncontrolled crying, etc.
Hi, I have use it about 2 years ago, still stop smoking, but no change at all with RLS
Champix contains a nicotinic receptor agonist called varenicline. It isn't actually nicotine but it does stimulate the same receptors.
If you're trying for smoking cessation let us know if it triggers your RLS symptoms.
If you're thinking it's similar to bupropion, it isn't.
