When I was a child/teen I would have to twitch my right leg. It was a very fast motion at the ankle. And it was like a nervous energy. It did not have any of the weird and uncomfortable sensations and I could stop myself and not have the feeling that I needed to continue. and it did not bother me at night. In other words, it wasn’t exactly like RLS. But I’m wondering if it was a precursor to RLS, or just a different type of symptom, or somehow related.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? Perhaps in their early years or before their RLS symptoms morphed into the full-blown RLS monster?
Recently I have been following rlcure.com and juicing fresh organic celery and carrot juice. Along with the other diet changes I’ve been doing for the past year. And now my insanely bad refractory RLS is so very calm. (I’m hoping someday soon it will just be completely quite! It seems to be progressing in that direction.) I feel like I have my life back to an extent. But I find myself doing this twitching movement a lot during the day again just like when I was a child.

I did read somewhere recently that RLS has to be distinguished from what might be called "nervous habits", I used to shake my ankle quite a lot when I was younger, occasionally do it now. It has nothing to do with my RLS.
I'm curious about mentioning that you have "refractory" RLS but make no mention of any medication, past or present, only that the diet seems to be working.
I weaned myself off of ropinerole last year. it was aweful! and rather than pursuing a course of opiods (trying to fidn a doctor who is understanding, deallign with teh sideeffects of opiods etc.), I tried weed, which works very well to alieviate my sypmtoms during the night. and as I said, the past year I have been doing some fasting, and loosly following a keto diet. then about 4 mo. ago I started the juicing. slowly over the past year my symptoms have gone from unbearable to very manageable. I even have nights now where I go to bed without the weed! (although I still have not made it through a night without symptoms altogether.)
I do remember my Dad constantly asking me to stop shaking my legs. Like you, I never had RLS symptoms but was always shaking my ankles. Interesting. Glad the celery juice and diet are helping.
