The second is that your mum appears to be suffering from "Augmentation" caused by using a Dopamine Agonist drug. In your mum's case, Ropinirole. Augmentation is where the drug makes the RLS worse, rather than better.
You will find information about this on this link.
You may find that your mum's RLS will improve considerably by withdrawing from both the Duloxetine and the Ropinirole.
On this site you will read many stories of people suffering severe RLS symptoms as a result of SSRIs or Dopamine Agonists.
Please be warned that although it would be a good idea to stop taking these two drugs, this must NOT be done suddenly. Your mum needs to wean off them by slowly reducing the dose. This may cause some nasty withdrawal symptoms which seems to suggest the RLS is getting worse, but they will settle.
Once your mum.has stopped the Ropinirole, the Pregabalin should be more effective.
It's best for your mum to discuss this with her doctor, but do be aware that GPs tend to not be very knowledgeable about RLS and you need to find out as much as you can about it.
She must stop both of those drugs, but it will be very, very difficult.
Cymbalta is an appalling drug whichever way you look at it, and the dopamine agonists hammer the brain so hard that the symptoms get worse.
If you are on Facebook, ask to join a closed group called 'Cymbalta Hurts Worse'.
In order to slowly come off these drugs, she will need help, lots of it, from a sympathetic doctor who understands that her brain is addicted to both drugs.
Here is a journal article on withdrawal from dopamine agonists which makes clear how difficult this is, and how it can be done -
Opioids are very helpful in coming off DAs, but your doctor seems ignorant and may not approve.
One way or another, you must find a doctor who understands the dangers that he is putting his patient into, and the horrors of withdrawal from these drugs. Both, I'm afraid, are as tenacious as heroin.
Just Google 'withdrawal from Cymbalta' and 'Full Cymbalta information', as well as 'RLS, dopamine agonists and augmentation'.
Take all the information you find to your doctor. If he baulks at this, then please find another doctor. He is badly out-of-date on BOTH drugs.
I have good credentials here, Wajidali, I have been through the horrors of both drugs. But I did it without the support of a person like you, so I hope it will be easier for your Mum.
