Hi, I'm not really sure what youre saying. You write that you "had" RLS a year ago. This suggests to me that you thought it could go away. If this is the case, I have to say, there is no cure for RLS. If you take medication for RLS, then you stop it, then the symptoms will come back.
Also, were you definitely diagnosed with RLS, your SFN could mimic it to some extent.
It's not up to me to say, but taking a dopamine agonist (Ropinirole) can cause problems in the longer term. There are alternatives. This depends on what medication you're taking for SFN. Some medication used for SFN can also relieve RLS symptoms. Alpha2delta ligand anticonvulsants are in fact used for SFN and RLS.
On the other hand if antidepressants are prescribed for SFN, some of these make RLS worse.
It might be useful then to have a discussion with your doctor, a) to confirm you definitely have RLS and b) to review your medications.
Actually, no..I went to my PCP and she put me on ORIPINOLE for RLS...Was never actually diagnosed by Neurologist. Over time the RLS symptoms ceased. When I saw the Movement Disorder Doc. He diagnosed the Dystonia but also recognized a general restlessness. He put me on oR. for dystonia. The jaw motion is better, but now the feet and calves won't be still ! I sent him an email... Haven't heard back yet..
