Taking Over Someone Else's Post

I recently put out a post and half way through the replies someone told their story. Another replied to that person and an exchange between them started. More replies were posted by other people, but now I have no idea if any of the replies on MY post are meant for me or the other person. So the best info I could possibly get, could now be ignored because I don't know who it was meant for. Think people!!

It happens some times, The replies for you would have your name to them.

Hi Woodir, as Elisse says, it does happen sometime and the discussion also gets diverted away from the theme you started. I confess, I tend to do it myself sometimes.

However, as Elisse also says most replies to anything you've posted will say that they are replies to you.

The other thing is, even if someone's not replied to you but to someone else in "your" theme, if it's useful to you, then it's still relevant.

It's a bit irritating if you're not getting the answers you're looking for, but otherwise it can also be a good thing.

Yes-- it can be very irritating when someone" hijacks" your post. I'm sure, in most cases, it is unintentional, but still very rude. I have done it myself, and immediately apologised to the OP.

However, everything on this site can be relevant to each other. I read all posts to find information about all the different experiences of rls out there.

I also get a huge amount of information from the Q and A on the rlshelp.org site. They are answeed by Dr Buchfuhrer himself, so very informative.

Hope you feel better soon.

Cheers

Hi Woody4,

I am sorry that your thread was "hijacked". This does unfortunately happen from time to time and it can be because the person has just joined and finds it easier to reply to a posting with their own question(s) than actually start a new thread.

Other members do often attempt to try to point out to the person who 'hijacked' a post that they would receive more help and advice if they started their own thread.

How annoying ....

If you read all the information you can then ask if the information is for you specifically or for sufferers in general.

It is only natural that questions here will spark more information, it happens in normal conversation. The reply system here is terrible and your problem is more connected to not great programming /design rather than the thread being hijacked.

You can always post again asking for clarification. Best of luck.
