This sound just like my husband (who doesn't talk to me about his condition - I'm watching him in silence).

He has lots of twitching in his body (jumping shoulders, fingers moving on their own).

I can even feel it (like electricity under his skin) when he is close to me (like in hugging). Lots of strange hand movements that some seem involuntary. Lots of restlessness in arms and hands when watching TV and driving, like he can't keep still. And when he is driving I can "hear" his hands "fall" from the wheel to his lap and I get the sense as if they are heavy. I know it's not helping but it sound just like what my husband has.

Might I add two things.

First for many many years his restlessness was only in his legs, and second, you are the first person here to describe what I have seen happening to my husband.

Thanks for the reply...

I have the same thing...when did this all happen?

How many years exactly?

Mine started 3 years ago, after a veins surgery it got worse.

My doctor gave me compressing stockings and that makes it better.

But you can't use that on your arms...

Is he taking medicine and please tell me what kind of tablets...

So far I am only taking codeine a little bit to go to sleep and quinine water...

My biggest fear off RLS is that sometimes it could be Parkinson or whatever ...

I could live with it if it was only RLS...

Does he stretch a lot?

Greetings and take care!!!

When did it start (in his hands?) I can't tell... thinking back I realize that many of his "strange" hand movements where probably there for a long time already and I was used to them as they were "part of him".

But I first started noticing them (as if I was looking at him from a different angle, as I don't know this man...) two years ago. He was very very stressed about a financial issue to the point he couldn't sleep (worrying). And then I first started noticing his repetitive hand movements, shoulder twitching and so on. These all became much worse and much more noticeable to me over these two years. (The legs shaking, restlessness, pacing a room like a mad man, and PLMS were all there from as long as I have known him (22 years)).

I too am very worried about all of this turning into something terrible and like threatening. I sometimes ask myself if he is aware of all this or there's a way the brain mask it (I hope you understand what I'm saying). The worst part is not talking about it.

He is not taking any medications, and never has.

He sometimes would put his hands up with his elbows folded, other than that I don't see him stretch much.

It could be RLS-PLMS-veins-stress-tourette-fibro etc...My doctor gave me diagnose

RLS but I am not sure if that is ALL I have, that is my biggest fear but we have to live with it. Strange that you don't talk with your husband about it...

But if he has it for such a long time you should not be worried.

Normally after a few years other bad diseases should have shown up already...

That is what my doctor told me...I have had this for 2-3 years so if I still have the same symptoms next year then I probably have RLS only...

BUT this year I gotten a lot worse like stretching a lot-pain shoulder-spasticity in legs and arms etc...

Anyway...it is what it is and we need to ACCEPT everything only then we can have

peace.

Enjoy every day...travel if you can, drink and eat the best food and CARPE DIEM...

Thanks and have a great day!

I agree with much of what you'v said. It could be all of the above + nervous tics.

If we WERE talking about it... I'd offer him the functional medicine approach path -where they investigate so many aspects of one's body (tons and tons of blood tests and genetics (not for RLS but other genetic aspects)) and offer a customized diet and supplements.

One such clinic is the "Ultra wellness center" in Lenox, MA. Established by Dr Mark Hyman. (They say they treat RLS and Parkinson's among other things).

CARPE DIEM to you too!

THE RESTLESS SYMPTOMS ARE NOT DONE IN ISOLATION. Nervous systems are interconnected when the signal is sent it shows itself throughout all the nervous system. The first time I was so restless that I couldn't rest or sleep, I was 35 years old. Flying long distances was the trigger, but as I have aged to 82 years old, my hands and feet have lost sensitivity and have a life of their own that I am not in control of, especially when I try to write my hands will jump causing my writing to look strange.

when I type I get lots of misspelled words and I use the computer to correct my spelling. I jerk and move my hands and feet much as your husband does, My wife admonishes me to hold still. An uncorrected senten ce might ;looklike this.Fibromylgia and RLS almost appears in the sa,e patience

I am 47 and I have a lot off numbness in arms and legs and sometimes spasticity...

Walking is sometimes difficult and sometimes walking is oké???

Sometimes the restlessness comes and goes, is that normal?

Biggest problem now is that I have the feeling that my muscles in arms and legs are to short and that is the reason why I sometimes have difficulty to walk or to keep my hands still...and then I stretch a lot...

Also my body is filled with muscle knots and triggerpoints...

So far the doctor said I have RLS in arms and legs...is this a correct diagnose?

What do you think?

Greetings and thanks for the reply!!

I relate. Sometimes it looks to me like my husband has "electricity" go through him. His leg would shake in bed and then I hear him swallow (or some other mechanism in his throat causing this clicking sound). And when he uses his computer his hand would jump, coming off the mouse and also off the key board. Lots of repetitive moments as well. Trust me I'm not a bad person, but it's becoming hard being around him without saying anything. Yesterday I commented about his finger jumping nervously and he said "what do you care what my finger does".

Does he uses alcohol or medicine?

It sounds like your husband twitches a lot? I only have some movement going on...like a few twitches a day...mostly finger or nose or eye...

And a creepy restless feeling inside that nobody can see and sometimes shaking inside...then if I stretch a bit it goes away after an hour...and sometimes I don't have anything for a few days or weeks...
