I know that celexa can contribute to RLS. I take 4Omg. I tried to stop taking it and cut down to 20mgs but I started crying everyday, so I went back to 40. Im considering trying to stop again and just grit my teeth an push through. It would be great if celexa was the root cause. Guess that would be wonderful!

If you NEED to take a anti-depressant then its best to see if you can change to a more RLS friendly one. Depression is not nice to have. There are 3 that are more RLS friendly, Wellbutrin but not available in the UK. Trazadone and Remeron. Hopefully weaning down of the Celexa and taking one of the other ones will keep your depression steady and improve your RLS. Discuss this with your doctor.

Celexa is a short-acting antidepressant. So, getting off it is not easy and side effects of this withdrawal are called discontinuation syndrome. It's not your depression "coming back". A technique to stop is called the Prozac Bridge - taking both antidepressants then titrating off the Celexa while continuing the Prozac. Then, getting off the Prozac is much easier since it is a longer acting antidepressant.

I take Trintellex for depression and it's the best one I have been on ever. I have been on different antidepressants for years and this one has helped me so much. I wonder what is in these drugs that would cause nerve damage though. Meds could be why I have suffered with RLS. So much to take in and think about.
