In fairness it is sometimes good for up to 10 years - only problem seems to be the longer you take, the harder you fall (withdraw).

You're right- I'm getting a bit cynical in my dotage😢 - maybe I need to take a holiday for a while.

Mind yourself.😎

I have been taking it for well over 10 years (possibly 15 or so -- can't remember exactly) and it works very well for me abut 90 pct of the time, occasionally I have to take an extra 500 mcg tab (and my GP is fine with this) but I am careful to do that only very occasionally. I am on two 1 mg tabs a day, one early evening and one late at night (I am a night owl) . GP says I can go up to 4 mg if needed but i have been on the current dosage for many years now and hope to keep it that way.

You are exceptionally fortunate. The relief afforded by dopamine agonist drugs is wonderful while it lasts and I totally understand its allure. It is rare indeed for it to continue for so long, however. The vast majority of people experience a worsening of their symptoms, an onset of their symptoms earlier in the day and a spread of symptoms from legs to other parts of their body after a prolonged spell on those drugs. This usually happens in spite of the fact that they are taking the drug with the blessing of their GP.

It is also fairly common to experience impulse control difficulties as a side effect, for example, internet shopping, gambling etc.

Your GP may be happy for you to increase to 4mg but it is you and not him/her who will have to deal with the miseries (very well documented on this site by those who have experienced them first hand) caused by too high a dose of dopamine agonists.

I do hope you continue to experience relief. I have to say that if it were not for augmentation I would still use dopamine agonists for my Rls. They provided me with the best relief ... until they didn’t and then they turned my life into a nightmare.
