Jeannie lots of meds can trigger /cause RLS especially antidepressants, antihistamines, anti sickness, over the counter sleep aids , are you taking any of those?
Hello, yes i am takeing quite a few meds and 2 of them are antidepressants and antihistamines. but no over the counter remedies.
I am afraid they are almost certainly going to be making your legs worse, which ones are they? Send me private message if you dont want to put on forum.Really not being nosey here but this could be cause or at very least making you worse . Anyone else in your family have RLS?
You need to look at this website and at the treatment page it lists all the anti-d's and antihistamines which are likely to make RLS worse. You need to sort out if what you are taking is making things worse for you. Trying anything else will NOT help if the meds you are on need changing. rlshelp.org
oh ok, I will have a look, and speak to doctor. thanks for your help.
Just a few posts below someone has asked the same question so you might like to see my reply there save me typing it again lol.Cute dog!
I too had rls and it's an awful affliction . I tried a remedy called Goodnight Magnesium Spray which you spray on the legs and massage in and go to bed . Simple as that and I haven't had a dance in bed for weeks . You can buy it in Holland and Barratt or Amazon. It's the bottle with the purple card. Good luck , it's worth a try .

Thank you, i will go and order some, anything is worth trying, as you said its an awful thing, it drives you nuts xx
It all rather depends on how badly you are suffering from RLS. I'd day the majority of the people on this forum deal with a great deal of pain. If that's you, meds may be your only option. If it's just the uncontrolled jerking around, you may be able to control or even get rid of it. Like Pippins says, checking your meds for side effects is the first line of defense. You can google the name of the med with the words "side effects" and find out very easily what you need to know. Cholesterol meds are absolutely notorious for causing RLS.
Lots of people like Shon48 find that magnesium helps. Cutting stimulants helps too- caffeine, sugar. Iron is a big player; you might want to get your levels checked on that. Some other supplements reported to help some- CoQ10, L-arginine and ginkgo biloba (the last two improve circulation). I'd think exercise would help on that front as well.
For me, it was chiropractic that helped. The worse my lower back is, the worse RLS is. Lower back exercises and an inversion table do wonders for me. But I don't suffer with the horrible pain associated with RLS in some people. Would love to know if any of these help you out any.
Jeannie, you need to check out this post- healthunlocked.com/rlsuk/po... Several have been helped by going gluten free.
