Okay, I've tried a few times now, but am quite concerned by my horrible cough. Would be very grateful for some peer pressure to give up.

Hey flyingfairy, welcome to Quit Support
Having a horrible cough is your body's natural reaction to just trying to cough up what's not supposed to be there in the first place. It's a sign that your smoking is damaging your airways and the longer it carries on, the more damage is likely to happen....
The good news is that as soon as you put out your last cigarette, then your body will get to working on healing itself straight away and will start to recover.
You now have some experience behind you through your past quit attempts, so take the good parts and put it into your next go. Learn from the past bits that didn't work so well.
Think of all the money that you will save too. Smoking doesn't come cheap now does it?!
Stopping smoking is the single most important thing that you can do for your health.
I see that you love the great out doors I couldn't think of a better reason for you to get out on some nice walks if possible and take in huge gulps of gorgeous fresh air
We're all here to support and encourage you to take the next best step heading towards a lovely smokefree life
Give us a shout when you're ready to crack on

Coughing can be a good sign that your body is ridding itself of all the rubbish that is not supposed to be there
However if you have a cough that isn't going away, usually lasting longer than 3 weeks, then it is advisable to see your GP just to get it checked out.
It's probably nothing but if it is then it is best to get it looked at. What we do know is that early diagnosis saves lives.
Better to be safe than sorry
Mine comes and goes EmJay. Completely cleared up last week, then last night/evening it started again.
This has been happening 3 weeks into my quit and it still happen this way.
Doctors keep checking me out, had chest x-ray (Clear) blew down one of those things (Blew it off the scale 800+) So I don't know.
Each time it happens though, a couple of days later I will start bringing up all that brown rubbish. I just guess it's my bodies way of dealing with it.

Hi Flyingfairy,
I too am just about to give up, and you have def come to the right place for support.
I am just sick of wasting money, day in day out. I know i should be more concerned about my health etc, but for some reason, even though i know what it does to me, it is not enough of a driving force, but not smelling vile, not subjecting my friends and family to the stench and also being able to buy some lovely things with the money i have saved is a huge incentive
I have a glass jar already on my kitchen side so i can put the tenner a day i would normally spend on smokes in, and in no time i will have the shoes i have had my eyes on for ages infact on Feb 14th i will have enough, so I will make it my birthday and valentines day present to myself lol!
