never be complacent and never feel under pressure to stop NRT products if you don’t feel ready

I used nicotine lozenges from home bargain, they worked brilliantly.

Kept some nicotine gum for when very strong urges to smoke. Hypnotherapy track to listen to daily ( initially) for smoking cessation . Also my rubber straws lying around to "puff" on . Walking lots even just for 10 mins round the block when the urge strikes

it is nearly 6 years since I quit and I had smoked for over 45 years so I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I went down the route of nicotine patches. My advice is to ignore how long and what strength of patch you should follow as it takes far longer than advised. It was 12 months before I finally stopped using the patches and I followed my instinct when I thought I was ready to reduce the patch strength. By the end of twelve months I was cutting down a patch into quarters which meant giving me minimum nicotine until the day I decided I needed to stop altogether. They worked for me and it was hard but once you get to about 6 months it’s gets a lot easier. The downfall was the cost as the patches were not cheap but then again it would have cost me the same if I had being buying cigarettes more or less. Don’t beat yourself up but try not to give in too easily. Good Luck.x

I can attest that this is very very true. I’m back on NRT with patches and an inhilator. I have no intention of stopping these within the 16 weeks I will get them free. I will buy them for as long as needed. Obviously the goal is to be completely nicotine free but as long as it takes. I’m not smoking so it’s a win.

good luck, there were times when I felt like jacking it in but persevered and so glad I did. Five years on and I don’t miss it at all and when someone light up in front of me that doesn’t bother me either. Good luck to you too.
