I used an audio book rather than a traditional book as I could play it while I was walking... it worked a treat for me as I kept listening to it over and over after my stop date.
The book was by Allen Carr.
hi GrantinFrance and welcome. Yes a number of our members have quit after the Allen Carrs "Easy way to quit smoking"
When did you quit, if you let me know your quit date i can add a badge to your name
Hi Glolin, I have been lurking on this site for a long while now lol... my quit date was July 3rd 2015.
There is great success in my family with the book as my wife and her mother both quit with reading and my brother in law read it and used patches at the same time and has since stopped those to.
Thanks for all the support this site gave me and also a lot of reassurance when I thought I was the only one with symptoms like headaches and fatigue and coughing... really appreciated.
ahh there ya go, you now have a shiny 6 months winners badge next to your name. 6 months quit is just sensational
Thank you... it looks good there.
My brother asked me over Christmas if I ever thought I would quit and I honestly believed I wouldn't after 26 years of smoking.. so It really does look good there.. can't wait for the year one.
I used the Allen Carr book and then went cold turkey.
I voted reading quit smoking book, I did try an ecig previous to this but it didn't agree with me.
Read Allen Carr and something just clicked and that was that, so went cold turkey as well π

I used lozenges, Allen Carr, an e-cig and copious quantities of Tic-Tacs! All pretty much at the same time.
Decided to quit AGAIN. I didn't make a big deal about this QUIT....just decided that January 4th would be the day. Last cigarette was 9pm on January 3rd. Going to try Cold Turkey but do have patches and gum on "standby". Will read "Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking for Women" for the 3rd time. I hope this quit sticks.

Still a non smoker after reading Allen Carrs book over 3 years ago.
and i feel like i've never smoked it was 12 years coming up to 13 years Alan
Cold turkey plus temporary use of bupropion (aka: wellbutrin)
I just read a big article and TV show about Welbutrin and how there was a big lawsuit against them for false advertising. Apparently it was leaked as being a weightloss pill. Did u lose weight? I heard the side effects are brutal at first but then taper off after a few weeks. Did u experience any and if so how long. Enquiring minds want to know "like me" I was thinking about it for depression but I got more depressed reading the side effects
I've heard it's good bandit...... Personal decision for everyone.... I know someone who started taking it for depression and then quit smoking .... He said it took away his desire to smoke....

This is not my first attempt over the years! Last time I saw a hypnotist and quit for just over 2 years. Then started again!!! I hated myself for it. I'm now on day 16 smoke free and already feeling the benefits.
1st Wrote down my reason to quit
2. cold turkey
3. Thankfully stumbled apon this site googling the 4000 + chemicals in a cigarette
4. Post every single day and/ or help support as many people as I can every day
That's a good point I think supporting other people helps us stay focussed as well π
hi everyone! This is my first post. I stopped smoking 13 days ago. I used the Jason Vale phone app. I've been lurking here for a wee while and thought i better say hello to my fellow quitters!
welcome panthra and congratulations on your 13 day quit
I am glad you decided to say hello as you will see, we are pretty friendly bunch all with the one common goal of staying smoke free
Does this make the 19th your quit date?
yes the 19th was the day I gained freedom! I had to count back for the date, I was just counting days! It's not been too bad, but it is great to be able to chat to other people in the same boat. I only have one friend who smokes, and I only see her once a week, so this online forum is great.
Hiya Panthra and a big warm welcome to quit supportπ
Nearly 2 weeks is fantastic, well done and delighted you popped in to say hello. NOPE not one puff everπππ
I'm on day 4. Doing ok.
