I started my quit smoking journey Dec 2016. Started with NHS quit service but to be honest the woman that mentored me did not have a clue as she had never had a cig in her life. However, after 6 weeks of trying really hard and having the odd sneaky fag I was given a quit smoking certificate. I felt like a cheat as I remember coming home and lighting up a cig. However attending the clinic did put me on the road to quitting. It has been a long journey. I have suffered with anxiety, depression but through it all managed to finally quit. My last sneaky cig was Feb last year.....that was up until yesterday! I had a very low day and lit up!!!! I only had 3 drags and stubbed it out as I knew that I did not want to smoke and no matter how tough or how much shit is going on in my life smoking a cig will not resolve it. My message to anyone who is starting/been on the same journey is stay strong and whatever happens feel proud that you have taken the first steps to move forward and start to live a smoke free life. Finally I would also like to say that mentally some days I struggle but physically I feel much better and have discovered that walking is not only very good for you but very therapeutic. I hope this post helps.
