I’m feeling helpless and don’t know where to turn. It’s so bad I can’t sleep or eat. Does it ever get better?

I'm so sorry you're feeling that way.It does get better, but as someone with PTSD myself, it's hard, so so hard... You will have so many bad days and good days too, but try to make the good days count more than the bad days.

It's easy to feel discouraged and negative when we feel like this, but something I've been trying to do to help me with the bad days is writing at the end of each day something positive that happened on that day, it could be something simple such as "I was able to leave the bed today" or "I did my nails today" simple things that you haven't been able to do for a long time that made you feel happy even for a second, and then at the end of the week I read them, and seeing all the positive things I did makes me feel better and makes me "forget" all the bad.

It's not easy but you will get there.

Hope this helps, stay strong!!!

I agree ASACS's post. It's unfortunately so important to do the activities that work for you. What do you believe in? What has helped you in the past? Turn to those. Do them regularly. I was recently in a hell hole. I'm seeing the light now because of the things I did to climb out The things that have helped me:

+Journaling to get things out of my head helps lighten the load and helps me see things better.

+talking with a therapist that matches your needs. You might need to try a couple of different therapists before finding that match.

+writing "gratitude" lists. In can be ANYTHING. Recently I wrote about feeling grateful for a roof over my head, electricity, my dog snoring, etc

+read inspiring things. Recently i found a lot of wonderful quotes about acceptance that really helped me.

+medication can help. Do you have a doctor?

+of course when you have energy, exercise helps a lot.

+support groups are a wonderful way to feel less alone. There are a lot of virtual meetings. I prefer in person.

+and last, post your problems here. It's a safe community.

I hope that gives you some direction. Start with just one thing. It will be hard. It will help. And you will become stronger because of the time you put in towards healing.🙂🌻
