Oh well I brought my husband home after Two days in the nursing home saw a few things I don’t like I won’t be specific
But here is a tip everyone I do believe the paperwork is quite involved to get them out of a nursing home so I asked for two weeks respite in front of the permanent I thought I’d be all good with it but I saw some stuff and took him home no problems getting him out he was just on RESPITE 👍
Take care every one and don’t be afraid to be the boss of your loved one 💕

Aw I cant imagine. My father in-law is in a nursing home, and the stuff that they are dealing with is just unbelievable. Its double hard because there is no way they can take care of him at home. Covid has really changed things on this end. Take care - Kim
I am so sorry Dance1955 that the nursing home did not work out for you both. Unfortunately the staff in these nursing Homes are stretched to the limit. They are usually lovely caring people but have their hands tired.
Our mum has been in one for nearly two years. I could write a book about nursing homes.....
You need to be comfortable with your decisions.
I hope you still get to address your health and have your op.
Enjoy that wine still. 😀
Good advise to share! So sorry this did not work out for you & hubby... especially because you still need that operation. Personally l put off a surgery for several years because l felt the timing & situation was never right... Please take care of yourself so you can take care of hubby. Sending hugs of encouragement... Granni B
Thanks Granni B I’m glad I’m not the only one we have to do what’s right for us don’t we I feel I have learned a lot this past week and we just have to do what we need to do tomorrow we might need stuff but we can wait a bit Xx
Sorry it didn't work out but you have to be happy it's right for both of you. Maybe you can get more help at home? Remember you have to look after yourself so you can look after hubby.Virtual hugs xxx
Thank you yes sometimes we don’t know what we really want do we ? After five years of caring for a very unhappy and depressed husband who cannot do anything for himself anymore I thought it would be right but who knows what’s right ? I decided to get more help at home for now but in the end we are only human and if a person isn’t nice to you after all you do even if they can’t help it it probably is just a matter of time isn’t it
This disease has already stolen my husband from me and I’m afraid I don’t know him anymore
I frequently wish that I could get some time alone in the house without having to think about Mike and his well being. Last Sunday my daughter took him out for a drive to the coast (we’re in N. California) to see the waves. I can track her on my phone and I did just that. Wondering if they were ok.
I don’t think I could give him over to a nursing home even though I sometimes wish for a different life without the responsibility.
Oh Caroline I think the different person or personality is so hard to deal with isn’t it Can’t you get some regular help I do now and as much as I can do you have any professional help you can get respite time etc get help with as much as you can get that’s what I’m doing now makes me a slightly better person we are not Robots are we ?
Hang in there don’t be hard on yourself I wish for that life too I think mine won’t be too long my husband has had this for 7 years plus
