My brother has been having several episodes can’t think of a word to call it but it is like he zones out for a while his legs go straight out his arms go out to the sides and it’s like he goes into a trance, ss have been looking up a lot on Dystonia, they say it is a rigid form seizure, muscle spasms abnormal body movements, it happens at specific moments and can last from minutes to hours, then he begins to slip out of his wheelchair, can effect one muscle, a muscle group or the entire body, he has never had any pain when that happens, but if there is pain it is constant muscle contractions, I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before, but as we all know this dreaded psp has new symptoms constantly. Have you discussed these symptoms with the doctor? There may be a muscle relaxer to help get some relief. Since your brother sometimes starts to slide out the wheelchair when this happens it may be a good idea to move him into bed or a recliner for safety when it starts.
Most of the time my dystonia is episodic lasting just a few minutes... and that's being on a muscle relaxant - Baclofen. My right and left foot are more permanent for which I receive Botox injections for - including the blepharospasm with the eyelids of both eyes.
