I would like to join PSPS

I am a 73 year old grandmother of 2 girls and 2 boys.

My husband and I have been married for nearly 50 years and have 2 daughters. All of us live in Cape Town South Africa.

My husband has had PSP for approx 5 years

Originally misdiagnosed until an MRI scan 9 months ago showed the humming bird shape on the brain associated with PSP.

If anyone is concerned they might be suffering with PSP I suggest they have an MRI scan.

The progression of this condition is starting to have a toll on our lives.

Very sad and a lot of hard work but we carry on knowing that God is with us.

Best regards to all who are caring for loved ones

Welcome to the best site ever, would not be able to carry on looking after my husband, without the help and advice from the lovely people on this site. My husband was diagnosed in 2014 xxxx

Hello Althea

Welcome to the community.

PSP has a great toll, indeed.

I don't regard myself as a stalwart person, but with the support and information shared here I have adjusted and got better at caring for my Liz.

It's not easy!

However little by little I learn and get the right care and support in place and even in these days, which were frighteningly dark in our imagination before, we still sher a lot of warmth and love and I would not miss a day of that.

Yes. I bang my head against the wall every few days with the pain and frustration and many tears of loss too. But there is so much good that we still share.

Warmly

Kevin

Welcome althea. Hubby gerry has psp. Rediagnosed 4 years ago after early diagnosis of parkinsons 3 years previously. Unfortunately this disease affects everyone around the person who actually has it. Try to plan ahead if you see things happening and get all the aids in place because usually you need them as soon as you get them.

Good luck and keep asking questions as someone on here usually has an answer or a helpful hint. .

Althea that is hard to do.If you read the journeys that are posted on this website you will begin to realize that they share a lot of similarities but at the same time all are different. Some patients are incapacitated for long perids of time.In the case of my husband,he was able to walk, talk and eat up until the day he died, but many are not.

I hope and pray for the best for you and your husband-keep reading the posts you find here and ask any question you have as thy arise-you will get help here!
