Anything that helps is great but take care and be aware swallow will still deteriorate slowly so I suggest you get in touch with the speech therapist and Nutricianist to monitor his swallow and weight, as swallow can deteriate quickly and cause aspiration and rapid weight loss. Hopefully the fizzy drink works for a long time, it did for a couple of weeks for M but soon back to problems. Sorry to be a Cassandra but PSP is unpredictable.
Best wishes for a successful cough and choke free period. Tim
Thanks for sharing. I may have to try some club soda with my wife. She LOVES her Coke, but it doesn't love her. She chokes almost immediately and then her nose starts to run. She can still swallow the nectar thick water, but again, it causes her nose to run too. So I'm sure it's causing her airway to be blocked, leading to the runny nose. When we're out and about in the car, I will sometimes let her take a swig of water. Again, here comes the runny nose. But if she aspirates anything into her lungs, I'd prefer it to be clean water. Not sure if club soda would be hard on the lungs and increase risk of infection. May have to research this some more before we try this.
Thanks again for sharing!

That's very interesting, Christine. Swallowing is suddenly becoming hard for my guy, so I will be experimenting with this.
