What an uncertain time for you all and I am sorry to hear that your mum's cancer is back. We are not medical professionals but patients ourselves, I can only speak from personal experience and I had a few reoccurrences before they managed to get it all out with more operations. I was originally diagnosed in 2003 and had my final operation in 2009.
Thank you so much for your comment concerning your personal experience and still being on the site to help others. That is very generous of you and much appreciated. Your experience has given me hope and inspiration to fight again if my appendix cancer is back (which I may find out to be the case when I am re-tested in January 2024). Wishing you continuing good health.
I am sorry to hear about your mum’s reoccurrence, I do know that if it’s going to come back it’s most commonly in the first two years. My consultant at the Christie has had success treating PMP reoccurrence with further doses of HIPEC. Not sure if this is with surgery as well but guess it could be chemo alone .Hope all goes well for your Mum.
Thank you for your comments. My own potential recurrence would fit that timeframe. My oncologist did mention that, depending on my next results in January 2024, he would contact the consultant who did my CRS/HIPEC and see what he recommends including whether something new called PIPAC might be an option.
