Hey Allen. I start SBRT in a month but before they have to put the gold markers on. What should I expect pain wise? 39, Gleason 3+4, PSA 6.12 which is down, oddly enough from 8 months ago. Thank you for all you do here.

I didn't find it as painful as a biopsy (they aren't removing tissue), and it's only 3.

I had gold markers inserted in preparation for 44 fractions of radiation. I had absolutely no pain at all. I don’t recall what form of anesthesia they used.

No pain at all for me. I actually went directly on an 8 hour road trip after the markers were placed. I was awake for the procedure which only took about 15 minutes. It wasn't pleasant given where they are working, but it was quick and wasn't painful and it was over very quickly. As for the Cyberknife (SBRT) there was no pain at all. It was more difficult to find a parking place at Georgetown than it was to do the treatment. Good luck!
