I'm having scan next Wednesday at Duke Cancer Center and I'm told the results will be sent the next day to my urologist and posted to my portal. I want to know ASAP what the results are and I doubt my doctor will drop everything to call me immediately when he gets the result. I'm wondering if it be a report summarizing the finding or a bunch of scans that wont mean much to me.

My Dr. emailed the summarization to me immediately. Can't you ask for a scan copy CD for yourself?
My scan center has a portal where results (images and scan report) are posted quickly, often as soon as an hour after the scan.
Of course, reports are often written in a very indirect way, such that the images (and the interpretation of them) really tell the tale.
If you have a portal like My Chart, you'll probably get the results with 48 hours. I typically read my reports before the doctor's staff contacts me. Not saying thats ideal, but it is what it is. It'll be somewhat straight forward. You can always go straight to the Impressions at the end and read it before going back to the body.
I just had an F-18 pylarify scan last week. The results were posted three days later and I was able to determine from the radiologist notes that there was no detectable cancer anywhere in my body. Of course I had to wait until the following week to meet with my oncologist but I snuck a peek and saw the good news! I wish everybody could see the same results!
