Has anyone experienced an elevated PSA due to Covid?
I have been testing my PSA in 3-4wk cycles, and it has been on a nice downward trend the past 140 days or so (9.2 ->5.7), no treatments, just supplements and lifestyle change. However, I had a jump of 1.3 in a 3wk timeframe. My 2/15/2023 test was 5.7 and I tested again on 3/9 and it was elevated to 7.0. I tested positive for Covid on 2/28/2023. Doing a little research turned up a single study that shows Covid can cause PSA to go up during Covid positive.
My urologist at first said COVID would not affect PSA and then on second thought said, "We don't fully know the impact of COVID."
My integrative oncologist said COVID could definitely affect PSA and gave me her rationale (without any documented studies). Unfortunately, I don't recall the rationale. I accepted it at the time.
I elected a HIFU procedure on 11/4/21 -- before discovering this site. Although as a 76-yr-old male (at the time) marginally qualified for HIFU, I made the decision with eyes mostly wide open. I am pleased with my decision thus far, but given Tall Allen's comments I am reluctant to comment in detail until more time has passed.
Hmmmm... makes me want to ask the following question...has anyone's PSA increased after getting the experimental COVID 19 shot and/or with the subsequent boosters??
Looking at my PSA timeline, it’s clear that Covid played a role in the spike on the 3/09/2023 test, and validates the study of 91 men with Covid and PC.
