Looking for an MO

Happy Sunday :)

Any recommendations for a Medical Oncologist in Northern CA? I have my radiation Dr but I was thinking I should have an MO just to cover all my bases.

Thanks!

I think you should think twice about "covering all my bases." The more doctors you bring in, the more disparate and unqualified opinions you will be hearing. An MO, an RO, and a Uro all have their own specialties and actually know little about the details of what the other specialists do - but that usually won't stop them from having and expressing opinions outside of their areas of expertise. Bringing in irrelevant doctors only invites toes to be stepped on and puts the patient in an awkward position. I've never seen it work well. It's pretty simple to draw the lines:

Uro- for surgery and urological problems that result from treatment. Most active Surveillance programs are headed up by urologists.

RO- radiation treatment plans (primary and salvage) and radiation-caused injuries. Can consult with MO on palliative radiation. May bring in MO to consult on adjuvant therapy.

MO- any non-curative therapy. For men with advanced PC only.

My RO was the one that prescribed my ADT and my VMAT-RT, also some Ca 500mg + Vit D 1000 UI and Tamsulosin.

So far I have an Urologist, an Haemato-Oncologist(Lymphoma), Radio-Oncologist(PCa), a Chest Doctor(Emphysema) and a General Practitionner(HBP+Depression).

Para-Medical: a Specialized Psychologist(Depression).

With that great team, we are covering most of my health problems.
