Can a home back massager start labour?!
.i know foot massages are out i would double check first, have you googled it??x
I'm 30 weeks, hubby massages my back, not for long but never had nothing happen yet!
If it was that easy to get a woman who wasn't ready going, no one would go past their due date
Thank for replies people say all sorts when you are pregnant!i will just ignore them.....
Meant thanks
You do have to be careful - for instance some TENS machines have been linked to ore-term labour, and maternity versions are available. I guess it will depend on how deep a massage the back massager gives if it stimulated rhythmical muscle spasms, then there is always a theoretical risk... If it's a simple shallow massager (I.e like knuckles, as per most hand held devices!) it shouldn't be an issue.
The chemotherapy day ward where I work has an amazing massage chair, complete with warning in the instruction book not to use when pregnant
As an aside - I just wish i could get my other half to assuage my feet!!!!
I like getting body massages. In my country I have been going for those Ayurveda (herbal oil) messages every once in two months and surprisingly, every time I would have a message i would get my periods (irrespective of the dates i would have them). And over the years I have tried different types of herbal oil and different therapists, also different room-temperatures and post -message body conditioning etc, but I have always ended up having my cycle by evening (making it irregular at times).
So ofcourse after I got pregnant I am keeping away from massages. although I still need nice foot-message and my husband rubs my back everyday.
So personally, I wont use any kind of body massager until the pregnancy is over. I am instead using a warm water bottle for short-periods to relieve the pain.
But that is just the way my body react to massages and yours can be quite different.
Thanks for replies asked the midwife as well she said she's not sure about it........I will stay away from it for now.x
