Books???
Have a look on Amazon, there is a good one called The Day by Day Baby Book by Dr Ilona Bendefly. That book seems to cover a lot. When I went for my 12 week scan, the hospital midwife gave me a big textbook (free of charge) called The Pregnancy Book. It's really good and covers everything to do with pregnancy, labour and caring for the newborn. I'm sure all women are supposed to be given this book.
Yes, Have a look on shopping sites such as Amazon, or Ebay where you can usually find a good selection of books.
xx
Thanks very much I've already had my 12 week scan and wasn't given anything they must not do it at my hospital but I will have a look on Amazon and see if I can find that one

Hi the nhs used to give you The Pregnancy Book but no longer print it (cost cutting I believe!) here is the link to download it as a PDF;

It covers all of pregnancy and the first weeks with your baby.
On a slightly different note I did a nct antenatal course which covered pregnancy and labour but also all the basics of baby care which I found most valuable. I hadn't had much contact with little people before having my son so felt a lot better after being taught how to hold/burp/change/wrap/dress one etc! So that might be worth looking in to
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy
Thank you that's very helpful do you no if its available to buy or have they stopped printing it all together?

My mom persistently recommended Child Birth without fear to all expectant moms, as well as me, and I just got my copy. Here is the first 10 pages in PDF version so you can have a teaser of it

there is multiple editions and some of them are pretty cheap I got my copy for 3 bucks in all
That's a shame you don't get a textbook from your midwife, we get a book in Scotland called Ready Steady Baby from the NHS. I feel I should appreciate this more now!
After being given two or three pg books a friend recommended 'What to expect when you're expecting' to me - and I can't recommend it enough! Other books I found very 'medicinal' and a lot was said about potential dangers of pg etc, so I was very often freaking out just reading some of this stuff. 'What to expect' is brilliant, it has all, literally all the symptoms, questions and answers, easy to read and very positive vibe (which I needed). It does mention things that may go wrong but in a way that doesn't scare you. I wish I got it sooner. I believe they also have one about caring for babies but this one just covers pregnancy.
