I'm 3 week pregnant and have cramps as if I'm going to get my period. Is this normal?
they work it out from the first day of your last period -so technically its 5 though your embryo can be three weeks old.
Through the 40 weeks pregnancy the counting would start from the first day of your last period. so you would get used to this time-tabling system.
The cramps can be anything -you have to wait and see - it might be a UTI which is normal during pregnancy and would cure with anti-biotic course - it can be implantation pain which might follow with light staining - So you have to just wait and see what it is - as there is nothing much that can be done that early in pregnancy.
Take your folic acid tabs regularly and try to worry less. Eat healthy drink lots of water and dont try to control your bladder movements (even if your running to pee has increased a lot) as that might give way to UTIs
I had these light period-like cramps too, they lasted a few weeks. Doctor said it was implantation pain and then the uterus stretching and making room for the baby. As long as you don't bleed, try not to worry. If it helps you to put your mind at ease, talk to your GP just to make sure.
I've had this as well realy badly some times had it for about the last 3 weeks I'm now 7 weeks and there not as regular now think from what people have been saying they are quite common.
Thanks for all replying. Ritz21 you were right, I had an infection, but from what I have heard from various people, having cramps in the early stages is completely normal. Panic over
